The efficacy of aciclovir (ACV) in the treatment of herpes simplex infections and herpes labialis in immunocompromised patients was evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. The study was a randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-group trial in which aciclovir was administered orally. The aciclovir oral dose was titrated to a minimum dose of 400 mg by using the intravenous infusion.
